The 8 Best Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

We’ve got a lot of mamas in our lives – from our grandmothers to our own moms, stepmoms, mother-in-law’s, aunts, and friends – we have a lot of love surrounding us. And with Mother’s Day right around the corner, I’ve been consistently thinking about what we plan to get/send to those in our lives. So I made a short list if anyone is in need of some inspiration. Give her any one of these and she’ll know she is loved and appreciated.

1) A personalized gift basket filled with all her favorite scents – a small travel size of her favorite perfume, a candle for her bedroom, an oil diffuser, lipstick in her favorite honeysuckle smell, hand cream for the car. For a personalized touch, tie the baskets with a bow and attach a favorite picture of you and her together.

2) If she isn’t a fan of a certain smell, gift a small basket of her favorite treats. Goodies from the local bakery/ice-cream shop, nuts from the roaster, and a small bag of her go to car candy. Again, wrap it up with a personalized photo and maybe include a note for a treat to dessert sometime soon for some quality mama and you time.

3) Pay to have her hair done. My own grandmother LOVES this as she goes weekly and us moms know it’s impossible to try to break away from the daily schedule for something that goes up in a pony. Call her hair dresser and pay in advance and give your mom a sweet note about when she goes next.

4) Cook for HER. As she’s the usual one to do the family meals – plan a special brunch for her. Set the table, dish up her favorite cup of joe, place flowers in the center of the table. Or, even give her breakfast in bed so she doesn’t have to move. One of my favorite go to recipes (Blood Orange French Toast) comes from Olivelle – a specialty food store in Bozeman, MT that I buy EVERYTHING from.

5) Give/send her flowers. Every single gal appreciates getting flowers once in a while. Wild or store bought – flowers are a necessity. Oftentimes my hubby will get me hanging plants and I love it every year. Splurge for an orchid – they last forever!

6) Photo Blankets. These are seriously AMAZING. You can make these personalized with Shutterfly and they are so soft and comfy and perfect for the photo lover in your life. My own step mom cherishes hers. She has one with photos of her own babies and my son on it and always hints at having more with the growing families we all have. If you need some help with this, give me a ring as I’ve made these for clients before for special occasions.

7) Make her a wreath. Those premade ones are so expensive when realistically all the parts to them are cheap. Grab a grapevine wreath base from Micheal’s or Hobby Lobby, her favorite flowers in faux and start gluing. Use a simple ribbon and some greenery to bulk up one side and you’ve created something she’ll love and cherish year after year for a few dollars.

8) Send her to the spa. We all need a little breather every once in a while. Pay to have her nails done or a facial or a message. If she’s never had one before, it will be an even better treat. If it’s too out of the budget – opt to create a spa for her at home. Grab a shower or bath bomb from a local store, some eucalyptus lotion and some small tea light candles for an oasis for her in her own bathroom. Even make her cucumber water (just cut up some cukes and put in a pitcher of water a head of time) so she can sip like she’s at a real spa.
